For those of you who glue down your fretboard extensions, do you normally use a low temperature release glue like Elmer’s white in order to make neck resets easier or just stick with the normal Titebond or LMI glues? If you are using a M&T bolt-on connection, do you glue the tendon in or is the bolted connection sufficient? I would assume a non-glued joint would again make neck resets easier. thanks |

I use a very small amount of LMI white around the perimeter...just in case it ever has to be removed. |

G'day Doug, No glue on the M. & T. bolt on. A tad of glue on the fingerboard extention so you can easily remove it if need be. Craig Lawrence |

I just bolt on my necks, the neck/FB extensions just floats. See the thread on floating necks. When I did glue the FB extension down I used two stripes of HHG, so that there could be no tendency for the top to split next to the FB in dry conditions. That is don't glue right up to the edge, just two bands one each side of the truss rod slot (if you rout one). Colin |
